You can log into view your PLSclear account by going to www.plsclear.com and signing in using the same username and password that you have set up for your PLS Account Manager.
If you do not have a PLSclear log in, contact our PLSclear help desk: PLSclear@pls.org.uk.
I have forgotten my password. How do I reset it?
If you have forgotten your password, you can go to www.pls.org.uk and click on the 'Sign in to PLS Account Manager' link.
You will then see a 'forgotten your password?' link.
Alternatively, you can email PLSclear@pls.org.uk for assistance.
How do I make sure my titles are available in PLSclear?
If you are already signed up with PLS for Collective Licensing, all the titles on your PLS account will be available in PLSclear.
We encourage publishers signed up to PLSclear to keep their title lists up to date, ensuring your titles are marked as 'participating' in search results.
You can update your title list within PLS Account Manager by:
- Uploading an Excel spreadsheet of your titles and ISBN/ISSNs via Account Manager (Titles > Add Title).
- Setting up an ONIX feed to automatically update your title list.
- Emailing your title list to permissions@pls.org.uk and we can update it for you.
Can we license our website content through PLSclear?
Yes. If you have added your top-level URLs to your PLS Account Manager account, your websites will appear in PLSclear searches.
To update your title list and URLs, log into PLS Account Manager and navigate to: Titles > Websites > ‘Add Website’.
Alternatively, you can email your list of URLs to permissions@pls.org.uk.
Can we use PLSclear for full book licensing?
PLSclear is for licensing extracts of content from your titles. We do not recommend using PLSclear for full book licensing.
Can we use PLSclear to license translation rights?
PLSclear can be used to license translations of extracts from your titles but we do not recommend using the system to license translations of whole works.
Directing Requestors to PLSclear
1. PLSclear Quick Links
PLSclear Quick Links directs users straight to the PLSclear permissions form to make a request for a specific title. These links can be embedded directly onto a book page on your website, making seeking permission simple and seamless for requestors.
Links can be individual hyperlinks, or you can embed a small button.
We also have Instructions to create individual hyperlinks as well as implementing Quick Links site wide.
2. PLSclear Search Widget
The PLSclear Search widget allows you to embed the PLSclear search bar directly onto a webpage. Requestors can search for any title using the search bar and be directed straight into PLSclear search results.
A good place for the search widget is on an easy to find contact us page or a dedicated permissions or rights page. The widget is a simple piece of HTML that can be pasted onto any webpage.
The code for the widget along with some sample accompanying text can be found is on this site.
3. Directly link to PLSclear.com
If you don't want to implement Quick Links or the Search Widget, you can simply link to PLSclear.com from your permissions page.
4. Sample wording for your website
Please do feel free to use the below wording on your website to direct requestors to PLSclear.
Requests to reuse our content are now being processed through PLSclear. Please visit www.plsclear.com to complete your permission request. You can search PLSclear by title, ISBN/ISSN, author, or keyword.
