PLSclear is online tool where users can seek permission to reuse published content. It addresses common problems experienced by those seeking permission:
- Identifying the current rights holder of a title.
- Knowing what information to supply them with.
- Knowing who to send the request to.
- Waiting for a response.
The tool is provided by Publishers Licensing Services (PLS) as part of its PLS Permissions service. Publishers Licensing Services is a not-for-profit organisation, formerly known as the Publishers Licensing Society. It is owned by the Association of Learned and Professional Society Publishers (ALPSP); the Independent Publishers Guild (IPG); the Professional Publishers Association (PPA); and the Publishers Association (PA).
